My friend [livejournal.com profile] prettybirdy979 wrote me a little fluffy johnlock ficlet!  Go here to see: http://prettybirdy979.tumblr.com/post/50132022769/im-feeling-emotionally-fragile-and-am-not-sure-what-i

Thank you so much!  That was just what I needed.

Hey, hey! I actually do still own this journal.

Just wanted to check in on folks, if anybody still hangs out around here. Drop me a comment and let me know what's up in your lives. Or email me, or something.

Work: holy cow, this is a tangled web. About two weeks ago we all came into work on Monday, to find out 15 people had been let go, including my supervisor's boyfriend, with whom she has three kids and a mortgage. All full time employees (including me) had their hours cut from 40 to 36 hours per week. And the 3:30 to midnight shift I've been working for over a decade? Next week it changes to noon to eight p.m.

And all full-time temps had to either switch to part-time (25 hours a week) or be reassigned. What the bloody...... what?

So yeah. Things at work right now are kinda tense.

In other news, therapy is going really really well. I have all sorts of tools at my disposal, and am finally motivated enough to make use of them. Go me!

Take care, everyone. Until next time... which might be after season 3 airs :P

Author:  PipMer
Word Count:  221
Characters:  Sherlock, John
Pairing:  Sherlock/John
Rating:  G
Warnings:  None
Genre:  221b ficlet, fluff, established relationship, POV John

Summary: John Watson often wonders what it is that Sherlock Holmes sees in him.

A/N:  This came about because of a challenge thrown at me by [livejournal.com profile] prettybirdy979. I was telling her how my best friend finds the character of John Watson more physically attractive than Sherlock. She responded by saying how John is attractive, whereas Sherlock has beauty. Then I responded with 'beauty, brains and brilliance.' She then told me she wanted me to write a 221b with those words. So I did. The relevant words are in bold and italics.

A/N:  This will have another part, containing Sherlock's point of view concerning John Watson :D

My friend [livejournal.com profile] prettybirdy979 wrote me an awesome fic, which you can find here .  It's a take on the Three Garridebs, which is my absolute favourite kind of Sherlock fic.  Go read, and shower her with praise.

Also, if there is anyone on my flist (or anyone else who visits this journal,  unlikely as it may be) who still doesn't have an AO3 account, I have several to give away.  PM me your email address and I'll send one to you.

That is all.

Title: A Matter of Trust
Author: PipMer
Characters/Pairings: Sherlock/John pre-slash, Mycroft Holmes, Harry Waton, Original Character
Rating: Teen
Genre:  Friendship, pre-slash, angst, trust issues, families by choice, holmestice gift fic
Warnings: Drug Use, Minor Character Death
Word Count:: 8255

Summary:: It is a well-known fact that Dr John Hamish Watson has trust issues. What most people fail to realise is that there are two sides to every coin, and that every phrase has a double meaning. And Sherlock Holmes? Well. Let’s just say he has trust issues of his own.

A/N: This was written for [livejournal.com profile] yeomanrand and [livejournal.com profile] shinychimera for the 2012 holmestice gift exchange.  Many thanks go out to my britpickers [livejournal.com profile] debriswoman and [livejournal.com profile] thesmallhobbit. To [livejournal.com profile] prettybirdy979 goes my undying gratitude for not only being my longsuffering beta, but cheerleader and fellow brainstormer as well.

Dialogue from “A Study in Pink” was taken from arianedevere’s transcript of the episode found in her livejournal.

Although I tried to make it clear in the telling, I want to play it safe and say that the overdose depicted in this story is accidental, not a suicide attempt. I don’t want to unintentionally trigger anybody.

Are any of my LJ friends interested in reading over a magical realism fic I'm working on?  I was going to individually PM a few people, but I though I would just try it this way first.  It's not really for beta, I just want to share it with some people and see what they think of it, get an initial reaction.  Also I will need brit-picking at some point.  It's still in process.

It's not slash, if that's a concern for anybody.

Thanks!

Well, I got home from Christmas with my family today only to this lovely review on my story "I'll be Holmes for Christmas" on ff.net:

euphoracle:God, poor Mycroft. He should be imprisoned for daring to bring his
family together for Christmas. What a bastard! Of course his mother loves him
least! Was this written by a thirteen year old?One who hates her older
siblings? Don't anser. The dinner scene is far from realistic too. Even if she
hated Mycroft, if only to appear like a good mother, Marjorie would not allow
Sherlock to badger his brother over Christmas dinner about his eating habits.
God, throughout this fic I kept waiting for someone to slap Sherlock. He's so
vindictive it's annoying. If he's going to be characterized this way, at least
give me some good reasons to like him too. Telling me he loves John means
nothing. Show me this love and respect he supposedly feels. I mean, there's no
color imagery in front of my eyes, with a gorgeous actor playing the part so
well, to distract me from his harsh words and deeds. Telling me how he looks,
that he looks hurt or innocent or whatever, substanciates nothing. Let the
character speak and act for himself in order to define him.

I also kept thinking that I've read all this dialogue and conflict in many
fics before this one, even within the Sherlock BBC fandom this past month.

Mycroft is a flat character here, not to mention a convenient scapegoat. John
is pretty out-of-character, too. One second he's depicted as a humble and
plebian doctor, the next he's a hand-kissing ...

This message has been truncated due to length. To view in full, please visit
site.

Uh... yeah. Guess they told me, eh? Funny thing is, this showed up in my email, then when I visited the site to read the full review, it wasn't there. Can people delete their reviews on ff.net once they post them?

Too bad I can't respond, because they were signed in as a guest. According to them, my writing isn't even up to the low standards of ff.net. Merry Christmas to me :D

Title:  I'll be Holmes for Christmas (or Checkmate, Brother)
Author:  PipMer
Characters:  John, Sherlock, Mycroft, Mummy
Pairing:  Sherlock/John
Rating:  Teen
Genre:  Humour, Angst, Friendship, Romance, Pre-Slash, Prompt Fic
Warnings:  None
Word Count:  8,861

Summary:  The Holmes brothers' rivalry continues as Mycroft manipulates and Sherlock schemes.  The result?  Christmas Dinner, Mummy, and men in suits.  What more could one want?  Sequel to "A Chess Game Between Brothers."

Author's Notes:  This is in response to a prompt made on my tumblr by [livejournal.com profile] maladroitoracle  Any chance of you continuing that Sherlock Christmas fic? I love reading about Sherlock's mother but I'd be happy with anything you wrote!

The fic referred to in the prompt is here.   You probably should read that one first to know what's going on.  But not to worry, that one is nowhere near the monster that this one is.

Not only is this a response to [livejournal.com profile] maladroitoracle's prompt, it also serves as a gift in celebration of her earning her MA, and also as a get-well-soon fic.  It is dedicated as well to [livejournal.com profile] prettybirdy979, since it's a continuation of her prompt, and she specifically requested men in suits :D

Please excuse any errors in British terminology or in time needed to travel from London to Sussex, since this is unbeta'd and unbrit-picked.  I did the best I could, and I hope it satisfies.

Additional Notes:  I envisioned Margery Avery-Holmes in appearance as Rick Castle's mother, played by Susan Sullivan in the TV show "Castle".  This is a very bad image, but this is the picture of her I had in mind when writing this, except her hair would be a bit longer and pulled up: Margery Avery-Holmes

I hope you enjoyed this.  Happy Holidays, Merry Yuletide, and whatever else you may celebrate.  May the new year shower you with blessings.

Okay, I'd like to send cards to more of my LJ friends, so if you missed the first post, here it is again:

It's that time of year again.  I'm sending out a call to anyone who would like to receive a holiday card from me this year.  For Christmas, Yuletide, Hanukkah, whatever you want to call it.  If you would like such a thing, leave a comment with your address (all comments will be screened, of course).  I don't expect reciprocation, but if you want to, who am I to stop you?

Whether we've friended each other, or whether you're just a fly-by fic reader, I'm more than happy to indulge you.  Comment away, please!
